Georges Riverkeeper welcomes new Executive Group

The recent Annual General Meeting held by Georges Riverkeeper showcased the organisation's commitment to a collaborative spirit, a cornerstone in its ongoing efforts to safeguard the Georges River for the benefit of the entire catchment community. During this meeting, a new Executive Group was elected, featuring Councillors from four local Councils, further underscoring the collaborative, collective and representative approach to river preservation.

Georges Riverkeeper would like to congratulate the newly elected Executive Group for the 2023/24 year, listed below:

  • Georges Riverkeeper Chairperson, Cr Stephen Nikolovski (Sutherland Shire Council)
  • Georges Riverkeeper Vice Chairperson, Cr Paul Sedrak (Bayside Council)
  • Georges Riverkeeper Second Vice Chairperson, Cr David Walsh (City of Canterbury Bankstown)
  • Georges Riverkeeper Treasurer, Cr Peter Mahoney (Georges River Council).

Georges Riverkeeper Executive Group Chairperson, Cr Nikolovski said: “Community wellbeing in the Georges River catchment is interconnected with the health of the river itself. The tireless efforts of the Georges Riverkeeper team are vital in preserving this natural treasure, ensuring a sustainable future for our community.”

Georges Riverkeeper Program Manager, Scott Reyes, warmly welcomed the incoming Executive Group, acknowledging their heightened commitment to the organisation.

This newly appointed Executive group takes the reins from the previous group which comprised of the following: Chairperson, Cr George Barcha (Fairfield City Council), Vice Chairperson, Cr Paul Sedrak (Bayside Council), Second Vice Chairperson, Cr Stephen Nikolovski (Sutherland Shire Council) and Cr Peter Mahoney (Georges River Council).

This past year, the Georges Riverkeeper Executive Group aided in executing the first year of the Strategic Plan 2022 to 2026 through the implementation the 2022/2023 Annual Workplan and corresponding budget.

The outgoing Executive Group would like to thank the Georges Riverkeeper team and its Member Councils that include Bayside Council, Campbelltown City Council, City of Canterbury Bankstown, Fairfield City Council, Georges River Council, Liverpool City Council, Sutherland Shire Council (Host Council), and Wollondilly Shire Council, as well as council representatives, stakeholders and community representatives for their support and contribution throughout the year.
