We are overjoyed to announce that the Zero Litter in Georges River project has been named the winner in the Litter Prevention / Clean Waterways category at the esteemed Keep Australia Beautiful NSW (KAB NSW) 2023 Sustainable Cities Awards!
Floods and frequent rainfall have had a profound effect on water quality in the Georges River catchment, reducing river health grades in bushland areas and improving grades in urban areas, states the recently released Georges River Report Card 2021-2022.

Strategic Plan 2022-2026
The Georges Riverkeeper aspirational goal is: ‘Best practice environmental management for a liveable urban river’. The recently published Georges Riverkeeper Strategic Plan 2022-2026 offers a roadmap towards achieving this goal.
There are many different stakeholders and landowners in the Georges River Catchment who all have a responsibility to manage their land in a way that ensures there is a minimal impact on the river and its ecosystems.
Best practice environmental management for a liveable urban river.
Georges Riverkeeper acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the Georges River, the Kamegal, Bedigal, Cabrogal, Cannemegal, Gweagal and Norongerral people of the Eora, Dharug and Dharawal nations and we pay our respects to their Elders past, present and future.
