Georges Riverkeeper hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 20 November 2025, bringing together councillors, staff, partner organisations and community representatives with a shared commitment to the health of the Georges River. The meeting included a presentation of the Annual Report, planning for the 2026 AGM and the election of office bearers.


A key outcome of the AGM was the endorsement of the 2025/26 Georges Riverkeeper Executive Group. The newly appointed Executive brings together a mix of continuity and fresh leadership, reflecting the collaborative spirit that drives the organisation’s work. The Executive Group for 2025/26 comprises:
• Chairperson: Cr David Walsh (City of Canterbury Bankstown)
• Vice Chairperson: Cr Chris Saravinovski (Bayside Council) – newly appointed
• Second Vice Chairperson: Leanne Niblock (Sydney Water) – continuing
• Treasurer: Cr Matthew Allison (Georges River Council) – continuing


The meeting also included a General Committee Meeting immediately following the AGM. Attendees heard a presentation from partner organisations, including Sydney Water, represented by staff presenting on upgrades to the local wastewater network. The Georges Riverkeeper team gave updates on the five Program areas as well as an update about current grants including Georges River Coastal Management Program; Litter Prevention Roadmap; Urban Rivers and Catchment Grant; Jane Goodall Grant; Sydney Water Community Grant


The meetings highlighted Georges Riverkeeper’s ongoing commitment to cross council collaboration, environmental stewardship and transparent governance.
