Federal Plastics Plan released – bye bye polystyrene!

This month the Federal Government released the National Plastics Plan 2021. Some of the highlights include national packaging targets for industry, a phase out of some non-compostable plastic products, and a phase out of polystyrene in 2022. Last year, Georges Riverkeeper produced a submission outlining the need to ban single use plastics, including polystyrene, providing photographic evidence from around the Georges River catchment. This polystyrene ban is a real step in the right direction.
