Georges Riverkeeper Committee Meeting – May 2025 Recap
Georges Riverkeeper's Committee came together on 22 May 2025 for our quarterly meeting, kindly hosted by Bayside Council.
The Georges Riverkeeper team shared an overview of the work undertaken since our last meeting in February and presented the draft FY25/26 Budget and Workplan, which was endorsed by the Committee.
The team also reported on our latest annual microplastics sampling results from ten sites across the catchment, and provided updates on several key grant-funded projects including the Coastal Management Program, Urban Rivers, and the Litter Prevention Roadmap.
We were pleased to welcome our newest team member, Phuong To, Catchment Officer – Waterways, introduced by Program Manager Nell Graham.
The meeting also featured several insightful presentations:
- The NSW EPA spoke about PFAS in the Georges River catchment;
- Bayside Council provided an update on local Bushcare work, including activities at Hawthorne Reserve as part of the Urban River Grant;
- Nell Graham presented on Water Sensitive Urban Design, highlighting the importance of focusing on improving the health of our D-rated creeks to benefit the entire catchment.
Thanks to all who attended and contributed to the rich discussions and shared learning.
