Georges Riverkeeper Executive Group Meeting - February 2022

We discussed our existing grants including a new grant to develop a Litter Prevention Strategy Grant which will be starting shortly. As Councils are still allocating Councillors to different Committees, the Executive agreed to postpone our 2021 AGM to Thursday 31 March 2022 to ensure there will be representation from all member councils present. Georges Riverkeeper have come together with the other catchment groups in Sydney to produce joint submissions to the many policies being developed by the State of NSW. These include: Catchment SEPP, the Draft Management Plan for the NSW Marine Mainland Marine Park Network 2021-2031, and the Draft Design and Place SEPP. Georges Riverkeeper also made our own submission to the Plans of Management for Dharawal National Park, Dharawal National Reserve and Dharawal State Conservation Area.

There are many different stakeholders and landowners in the Georges River Catchment who all have a responsibility to manage their land in a way that ensures there is a minimal impact on the river and its ecosystems.
