Georges Riverkeeper General Meeting - October 2021

The Georges Riverkeeper General Committee met virtually and the highlight of the meeting were the two guest speakers that presented to the group. Nicholas Hall and Julie Overton, Educators at the Georges River Environmental Education Centre (GREEC), presented on the Stage 1 education modules that they have been developing for Georges Riverkeeper. The education modules is a resource that GREEC are trialling with over 50 classes at schools within the Georges River catchment. Jason Salmon gave a great presentation with many photos on the Oyster Creek Gully bush rehabilitation grant that Sutherland Shire Council has partnered with Georges Riverkeeper. The Program Manager discussed the upcoming review of the current Georges Riverkeeper Strategic Plan 2018-2022, the convening of the Financial Cluster Group and the development of the new Georges Riverkeeper Strategic Plan 2022-2026.

There are many different stakeholders and landowners in the Georges River Catchment who all have a responsibility to manage their land in a way that ensures there is a minimal impact on the river and its ecosystems.
