Paddle Against Plastic 2023

Bring your kayak, SUP or canoe, and help Georges Riverkeeper to clean up Scarborough Ponds and Tonbridge Creek which is an important fish nursery for the Georges River.

Georges Riverkeeper's Paddle Against Plastic event in 2022 was postponed due to rain. We have rescheduled the event to this new date (4 March 2023).

If you already bought a ticket in 2022 and the new date doesn't suit you please get in touch with us by 6 February, asking for a refund.

If you already bought a ticket for 2022 and the new date does suit you, please email us to let us know you're still coming and we'll reserve your craft.

If we don't hear from you, we will assume you're not coming and make your ticket available for someone else via the Eventbrite booking site.

Meeting place: Scarborough Park Playground, along Barton St, Kogarah NSW 2217. We will be set up at the model boat pontoon.

This family-friendly Clean Up Australia Day event will remove the litter to make it nicer for everyone to enjoy and safer for fish and other animals that call it home.

Don't have a paddle craft? Hire one on the day for a small fee or join the walkers cleaning up the banks.

To pre-register and book a craft, simply choose the ticket that refers to what you need, and we will see you on the day. Bookings essential.

Gloves, pick up sticks and bags will be provided on the day. Make sure you bring sun protection, water and sturdy shoes that you don't mind getting wet.

Parking is available on both sides of Barton Street as well as Scarborough Lane.

Please note - in consideration of the ongoing threat of COVID 19 we ask that all participants follow the state government 'How to protect yourself and others' COVID19 government guidelines detailed, i.e.:

• Scanning and registering your contact details with the QR code at the event

• Maintaining 1.5m social distancing

• Only attending the event if healthy

• We recommend wearing a mask in crowded areas.

This is a Clean Up Australia Day Event supported by Georges Riverkeeper, Bayside Council, and the River Canoe Club.
