Georges Riverkeeper Annual Report 2021/2022

Report

Georges Riverkeeper successfully implemented the final year of the Georges Riverkeeper Strategic Plan 2018 to 2022 with several achievements, throughout a very challenging and unusual year due to the Greater Sydney COVID-19 lockdowns between July and November 2022 and flooding events in March and April 2022. This impacted the implementation of the Georges Riverkeeper programs and scheduled community events. However, the team persisted and carried out permissible works and what they could within the boundaries of the public health orders and helped with clean ups along the Georges River.

The team developed the new Georges River Strategic Plan 2022 to 2026, Annual Work Plan, Budget for 2022-2023, and made further amendments to the Constitution allowing for a second Vice Chair on the Executive Committee. All strategic and governance documents were adopted in June 2022. The team has also been successful in obtaining grant funding from the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) to develop a Litter Prevention Strategy for the Georges River Catchment and continues to implement the Zero Litter in Georges River Environmental Restoration Fund Grant with our member Councils.
